The Healthy Communities Resource Center’s mission is to transform environments for the purpose of promoting health equity using a broad spectrum of approaches that create healthier communities.

Through the Resource Center YWCA consultants help to educate communities about the benefits of adopting a healthy communities approach.  We provide cities and/or communities the technical assistance necessary to develop strategic plans, implement projects, and help to support the formation of community coalitions to improve the quality of life in our local communities.

 

The YWCA SGV also helps to build the capacity of local nonprofits so that they can better meet the needs of community members through the Healthy Nonprofit Project.  This year we will be providing “hot topic” executive roundtables to build collaboration and problem solving strategies and to provide workshops to support nonprofits with the tools and skills needed in critical areas.  We also help to improve communication and coordination through the Healthy Communities Collaborative by supporting the development of partnership projects including direct services, regional programs and funding proposals.
